Guided Readers release!

We are excited about the release of our promotion on the new Guided Readers series which will be expanded for the 2013 School Year. At this stage, we have released 4 multi-level packs Levels 1-5, Levels 6-10, Levels 11-15 and Levels 16-20. This is called our Series 1. Each multi-level pack has a BLM of 40 pp containing fluency exercises of 4 pp per book title.

Book Club

We have had many people asking when we are starting a Book Club for the Gold Coast. The Book Club will be starting very shortly and we have a big range of titles to discuss as well as authors visiting. It is an exciting stage for the business and it is going to be co-ordinated by a number of keen staff members to get it working. We are sending out notifications to all our store and local customers. The Australia Book Industry - July 2011

I was listening this morning to ABC Radio National's Fran Kelly give a cursory few words on the closure of the Red Groups A & R stores plus the other speciality book stores in the group. Over 2000 people have lost their livelihoods with the failure of this entire group! So what has caused this? What does it matter and what is the future? No mention of the collapse of the Woolridges' group and many small players.

This is the news part of it but last week the book wholesaler Scribo with unspecified job losses ceased business. There is every chance we are seeing the start of a domino effect with the loss of retail and thence wholesale businesses with the final domino being the publishers.
