Children's Book of the Year In this section we have added the selection of 'Notables' and the finalists 'Shortlist' which are suitable for secondary students which are taken from the awards category called 'Older Readers'. Every year the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) appoints noted authors, educators, publishers and writers to judge from the nominations. The CBCA judging panel initially selects a 'Notables and Shortlist' which teacher librarians and teachers eagerly await. This list is released on the 12th April 2011. From this list a series of books are selected as finalists for the Older Readers category which is suitable Junior Secondary and we select a series of materials which are suitable for use in the classroom which are called: 'Book Week Support Materials'. This is the most prestigious award for a children's book in Australia and constitutes recognition of the work of the publisher and author in creating a book of great significance. Network Educational Australia release the list on the 12/4/2011 for orders and we will once again, stock the shortlist titles for ordering purposes throughout the period leading up to the finalist announcement in September 2011.
