Children's Book of the Year Awards
CBCA Book of the Year Awards 2019 timeline:
| Shortlist announced | Tuesday 26th March |
|
| Book Week 2019 | Saturday 17th – Friday 23rd August | Theme - Reading is My Super Power |
Every year the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) appoints noted authors, educators, publishers and writers to judge from the nominations. The CBCA judging panel initially selects a 'Notables and Shortlist' which teacher librarians and teachers eagerly await. From this list a series of books are selected as finalists and we select a series of materials which are suitable for use in the classroom which are called 'Book Week Support Materials'. This is the most prestigious award for a children's book in Australia and constitutes recognition of the work of the publisher and author in creating a book of great significance.
